Today is Saturday, and since I just found out that the Baobab Center is not open. This means no new photos until Monday and that Im stuck here in a nearby fly infested internet cafe. I wouldnt be surprised if the flies came from the malaria infested sludge ditch near my house either.

I also wanted to put in a few things I forgot yesterday. Over the past few dinners? Jacques announced that he is an anarchist (in his own words) AND that the reason we have had so many hurricanes is because George Bush didn't sign Kyoto. Alas, what can I say? He was also running around the house on Thursday night muttering about the office of numbers and how they got their numbers mixed up again- quite funny, though I don't have any idea what he was talking about.

Odile also berated us for not speaking Wolof this morning and actually outrightly called us bad Wolof students. Ill have to converse in her with English a little to bring her perspective into reality.

Another big event I forgot was my trip downtown to help out at a high school English Club with Haby Ly, the woman from Tabaski. We introduced ourselves and they sang some songs they had been practicing, including one about the Senegalese ferry that sank a few years ago resulting in hundreds of deaths. Apparently, theyre pretty good; they won a tv at a MLK English competition a while back. Their classroom conditions however were pretty bad. Then we crossed the street to the British Senegalese Institute to help Haby teach an English class for kids there and took a very long bus ride home, not actually knowing where to get off.

Last night was a lot of fun-an Mbalax (google it) concert and two interesting bars. It is expensive here though to go out! The concert was at the French Cultural Center in their open air stage, which was being bombarded by bat poop from bats who lived in the nearby baobab tree. Well my time is almost up so Ill be going now. A lundi!

I am enjoying your dialogue. How about some photos of your home and hosts. Please keep up the good work and take care.
